Military regarding Greenland? President-elect Donald Trump did not deny possible military intervention in the case of the Panama Canal and Greenland. As he said, he wants both of these areas to be under the control of the United States.
“I can say this, we need them for economic security” – the Donald Trump told reporters. “- I do not intend to commit to this (resignation from military operations). It may turn out that something will have to be done” – he added.
Earlier, Donald Trump’s son visited the island. “Greenland is beautiful,” he wrote on the X platform. As previously reported by Greenlandic and Danish media, Trump Jr. is scheduled to hold talks with Erik Jensen, the leader of the influential social democratic Siumut party, among others. At the end of December last year, this politician officially invited Donald Trump to visit the island. In the meantime, Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede called off his scheduled trip to Copenhagen on Wednesday, where he was set to meet with King Frederick X of Denmark.

On Wednesday, December 25, Trump wrote that “Greenlanders want their island to join America, and Canadians would save 60% on taxes if their country became a state.” It was another comment by Trump on the matter, following his announcement of a nominee for the U.S. ambassadorship to Denmark, during which he stated that the United States should “own” the largest island in the world. In response, Greenland’s Prime Minister firmly emphasized that the island has no intention of joining the United States.
